Noticing

/245 - Progress, A Dayful

And these images have nothing to do with it.

Finished making the S80 stand today — it’s currently in the garage drying from its second coat of paint. No good pictures of it really. I was hoping that the heat would help cook off the smell, but it’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow (and Monday/Tuesday) so not sure if it’ll be ready to bring inside. Have to admit I am feeling a bit discouraged about this one. As much as I love to do things myself instead of just buying something, I am wondering here if it was worth the aggravation in getting it all together, and if the finished product is something I’ll be happy with. We shall see.

/244 - Arise

One thing I have been wanting to fix for awhile is my lack of a stand for the S80. It’s currently on a couple stools and sits way lower than it should. I’ve drawn up a whole bunch of over-complicated designs but decided today just to add some legs to it. Didn’t have a lot of time today, but did manage to get supplies, cut the legs, and install the threaded inserts. Hopefully cut cross-braces and paint tomorrow, then install as soon as the paint smell goes away.

/154 - Random

Building weird layers with the midialf driving s80. Random sequence + Osc delays + delay effects.

I dunno. Not my usual, but I was patching around and this random sort of nice thing came out.

/151 - RTFM

Ok fine. (It’s actually really helpful now that I know my way around in here…)

Have to admit that I haven’t been feeling very creative lately, so trying to keep doing/learning at least. The world is a weird place right now, and there’s no telling if/when it will go back to “normal.” I’m typically a pretty introverted person, but this blog and our forced isolation have made me realize how far away I am a lot of the time and it sort of feels like something is missing. When I look out and hear what others say about their work and their process, there’s a consistent sentiment in how much creativity comes from working/being with other people. Might be a good time for me to try to find ways to engage, even if that’s still very limited right now.

/150 - The Ides of Arps

Spring seems to be here, finally. Lots of rain, but getting steadily warmer and greener. Hopefully the nicer weather makes our isolation more bearable and not the opposite.

Morning s80 sounds featuring multiple lfos and arps crossing and jumping and weaving. Sometimes you just have to hold the keys down longer than you think you should and let it play. Straight out of the s80 into the h4n.

/147 - Rhodes of Canada

Quick clip of a stuttery, warbly, hazy patch I made on the S80. Recorded to h4n straight out of the synth with no external processing or effects.

We spent all day outside working on the garden and the beds around the perimeter of the house. Perfect weather and it looks great and I’m exhausted. Pics tomorrow maybe.
