Noticing

/255 - Arpeggiate

Was talking with a friend about synths and arps (yes, yes this is what we talk about) and I realized that there’s probably a lot that I don’t know about the arp function on the Digitone. There are no auto settings — you can program it to do whatever you want it to do, but also it won’t do anything unless you program it. Played around a bit with it and the scale function, timing, and filter section. The recording is repetitive (as opposed to all my ultra-dynamic drones…), but it was fun to make.

/243 - Poking Around

Had a bit of time to move some sliders on the SH-01a today. The number and simplicity of the controls belie its true depths. Everything parameter is so interactive with everything else that I kept finding myself in unexpected places. Nothing amazing here, but I had fun making this — saw waves, noise, sustained notes, arps, and lfos. I particularly enjoy how the noise source makes everything flutter/rumble.

I ate my lunch during a meeting so I had a few minutes for sounds. Arps and delays are fun.

/150 - The Ides of Arps

Spring seems to be here, finally. Lots of rain, but getting steadily warmer and greener. Hopefully the nicer weather makes our isolation more bearable and not the opposite.

Morning s80 sounds featuring multiple lfos and arps crossing and jumping and weaving. Sometimes you just have to hold the keys down longer than you think you should and let it play. Straight out of the s80 into the h4n.
