Spent half of the day in the field for a project. After lots of delays due to the pandemic, things are happening and it’s actually going to get built. (Only 3 years until it’s done…) Nice to get out and stretch my legs, plus I love being around places where interesting shapes and textures are being accidentally/haphazardly combined into interesting configurations.
I got Emily really excited to do a project with me this afternoon, so we stopped and got supplies while we were out doing the rest of our errands. By the time we got back she was over it. Then right before bedtime she lost it because we didn’t have time to do it before she had to go to bed. I got it all planned out tonight, so hopefully tomorrow we can finish it.
Emi and I took a little walkabout today to see what we could see. In the end we didn’t see very much, but the weather was great and it was still fun to walk around and talk with her. She cracks me up!
I need to start digging back into my project list. Time has been short lately, but it feels to me that I’m just posting the same old thing all the time. There’s tons I want to work on, just need to jump in and do it.
Emi threw a party for us this afternoon, so I was finding festive object drapings all around the house. These ribbons had nice shape/color against the plain backdrop. Maybe she’s the creative one.
Recorded a short piece with Wurli and Cranes. I keep coming back to this script and it always produces interesting/beautiful results. I let this one loop for quite awhile today.
I always find myself noticing interesting designs or textures that are created accidentally, or left as an unintended consequence of another task.
We took a hike at a nearby park this morning — trying to get there before it got busy, and before it got hot. There weren’t too many people on the trails, and everyone was being friendly and keeping their distance. It was still hot since all the trees blocked the breeze. It was still a nice time and Emily loves romping around the woods, finding bugs and creatures to look at/talk to. Love that about her so much. ♥
Emi and I had a fun day playing around. Ash recently got herself and Emi little scooters, so she and I went cruising in the sunshine. Came home and made a giant block castle. Day in the life, very lucky indeed.
Our yard has some drainage issues so all the recent rain has left us super soggy with grass that’s starting to go out of control. Hopefully this week will dry things up and we can keep working on the yard and the garden. At least it’s pretty in the meantime.

Unfortunately not a grassy one. Spent the entire day at the hospital verifying measurements for a project. Above the ceiling, into service rooms, electrical closets, storerooms…. So much clutter and weird stuff to see. Was really tempted to bring the field recorder, but my hands were already very full. Oh well.
This crack runs right over my head when I’m working in the studio. Took these photos to document the condition (not sure if its spreading/getting worse) but once they were abstracted from being an issue of home repair I quite liked them. Still not looking forward to fixing this someday.
Some days you have to be creative to find ways to be creative. Good thing I get to live with such wonderful, colorful people. Goodnight.
Nice (mostly) quiet Sunday, featuring a trip to the library. Colors and textures abound.
Went to the hardware store today to buy the materials to build some basement shelving units. Hopefully we never have a water issue again, but if so I’d like to lessen the impact. Will also be helpful to encourage us to go through all the stuff down there and donate what we don’t need to hold on to. The rest of the day got eaten up so the shelves didn’t get made, but at least I have everything so I can work on it when I find pockets of time.
Also: Emily left a trap for me.
