It was a sunny day, I got a lot done at work, and now it’s my weekend. I get to spend all day tomorrow with Emi, doing whatever we end up getting in to. Conversely, I had some issues with the Bitbox — lots of crackling and lights flickering, so not sure if I was pushing it too hard or if there’s an issue. Have to keep trying to see if it repeats, and if there’s a common cause. Fun.
1&2: Ash discovered some Monarch caterpillars on the milkweed plants next to our house. The first thing Emily wanted to do when she got up (at 6am) this morning was go check on them. I was barely able to convince her that they probably wanted to sleep in. When we finally did go out she made sure all were accounted for and then pulled up her chair to make sure “they were staying safe.”
3: Had a lovely time with my guitar and norns on the porch after dinner. Stayed out as long as I could, but eventually the mosquitos won. Tried out 4 channel recording for the first time — using the line ins from norns and the built-in mics to capture all the environment sounds. Haven’t had a chance to listen yet, so hopefully things turned out ok.
4: Macrame! Very simple design, but decided not to go way overboard (at first) for once. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that I can nurse this spider plant back to health.
I still need to re-pot another plant and learn macrame, but it’s up!
(Wow, only 99 posts left to complete the year. I don’t think I ever believed I would make it this far.)
The paint is drying on the parts and Ash brought more secondhand planters home today. I’ll hopefully get the hardware hung and plants repotted tomorrow, but then I need to learn to make a bunch of plant hangers before it all comes together. I think this will be the fun part?
We’re getting more plants in the house, and managing to keep them alive, and it’s pretty great. Since we got the new blinds which have the top-down function I have been (slowly) working on getting brackets and hanging bars up. (Need to keep it going)
Little jam with Meadowphyics tonight. I often wonder what/how much of the music I make should get posted, feeling like I should be more judicious in the choosing. Really, that’s just the opposite of what I am hoping to do here — just be less critical and more open. If I enjoyed making it, perhaps someone might enjoy hearing it.
We’ve had a renewed focus on getting organized and putting some long-overdue finishing touches into the house. It’s crazy to think that we’ve been here a year, and also to see some of the things that are still undone after the move. We're finally getting there.
I installed top-down blinds today and it’s great having the extra light and being able to see the trees. We aren’t the best (quite awful actually) with houseplants but we’re excited to try again now that there will be enough sun to support something more than spider plants. Just have to find things that will withstand forgetful waterers (we will still have spider plants) and won’t poison the cats.
