Noticing

/314 - Walkabout

It was a beautiful day so Emily and I went for a walk at a nearby nature park with our cameras. Since she got it yesterday she’s been carrying it everywhere, snapping away happily. Since Ash recently got some film back it lit a fire under me to finish a few rolls I have in cameras. She got me the Sprocket Rocket about 6 years ago and it’s got the same roll in it from then. Finished it! It’s not going to be cheap to develop (panoramic and sprocket holes) so I hope that something turns out. I really need to be less precious about the things I shoot on film so it doesn’t take so long to finish a roll. (only a few more shots left on that roll of ?? inside the OM-1n)

/195 - Sound of Stone

This morning I asked Emi if she wanted to help me with a project and of course she did. We went to a hiking trail near our house with the H4N to find some stones and record some sounds. We were there for a few hours and her energy never even flagged - climbing and jumping and exploring. She was cracking me up the whole time — every time we would stop to record (her idea or mine) I would set up and say “ok, here we go lets be quiet and listen” and she would almost immediately start singing/humming/throwing rocks/cracking sticks. Oh to be 3. It was such a great time. ♥♥♥

/179 - Awake

Emily and I found this web of spiderlings in the process of hatching on her slide. We watched them for quite awhile and it was pretty fascinating. I’ve never seen anything like this close up before. No edits or effects on the video — it was pretty windy.

/111 - When In Doubt

Bokeh. We had a nice long nature walk at a nearby wildlife area this afternoon. Lots of birds, and a handful of people. Everyone (birds and humans alike) kept their distance. It was overcast, but warm and overall a nice spring day. Emily brought home a hat full of pine cones and “cool rock.” I couldn’t ask for better people to be isolated with. ♥
